Head End Power. At the United Railroad Historical Society of NJ for the first time during a night shoot in Boonton, New Jersey, former Erie Lackawanna/NJDOT GE U34CH 3372 (later NJ TRANSIT 4172, 4/1971) was not an official participant in the event. With a bit of free time afterwards, lighting was found to illuminate the veteran 6-axle. This unit was paired with Comet I cars in what was a dramatic upgrade for the commuting experience as the prime mover was used for lighting and climate control. After retirement, the engine spent time parked at the New York & Greenwood Lake Railway in Passaic, New Jersey before coming to Boonton in late 2014.
