It’s a beautiful, and warm fall morning in Downtown Chicago, as L536 winds out of Downtown Chicago at 35th Street with a matching set of IC SD70s, 1029 and 1007. Most of the time a straight shot for this train from Glenn to Kirk Yard without any stops isn’t easy, as they have 10 busy diamonds to cross before getting to Kirk, which is hard for a non-stop trip, and for any Railfan in Downtown Chicago trying to get L536, it’s usually like pulling teeth. Being a Sunday which much less traffic, L536 and crew only had to stop for one Metra at 16th Street and made it across every other diamond without a stop, which made for a nice late morning run through the city. With the amount this train gets held, they’re normally not through Downtown Chicago until mid-afternoon.
