"Steaming on together"
One of the most special moments of the Lerro Production's Photo Charter at the Strasburg Railroad last Thursday....
During the photo shoot, N&W 475 was doing one of its normal back and fourth trips. On the return trip, 611 was placed on the siding track so 475 could pass by. Mr. Lerro ordered the railroad to hault 475 for this truly spectacular moment.
Both engines are of Norfolk & Western lineage. Today, N&W 475's home is at the Strasburg Railroad where it is a regular part of their excursion trains. 611 is the extended guest. In my opinion, 611 makes 475 look like a toy. 611 was completed about 50 years after 475 towards the end of the steam era. As a result, she has some of the most advanced technology in a steam locomotive ever produced. Although we'd all much rather see these two engines on their home rails, it is still great that they have somewhere to show off their beauty.
