Sunday Sunset. MTA Metro-North Railroad Train 6542 had just pulled out of the station stop at Westport, Connecticut when it crossed the Saugatauck River as the sun sank in the sky. Led by Kawasaki built electric MU M8 9212, the train is crossing the single leaf Scherzer rolling lift bascule Saugatuck River Railroad Bridge ("SAGA"), a 13 foot vertical lift bascule bridge that was built in 1905 for the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad and today serves Metro-North/Connecticut DOT and Amtrak trains.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
