Chargers Recharging. On Friday, August 26, 2022, the Amtrak California Zephyr was powered exclusively by Siemens ALC-42s for the first time. AMTK 301 (First Day, 50th Anniversary) and 309 (Phase VII) were actually on line while AMTK 313 and 314 were being delivered from the Siemens plant and were en route to Wilmington, Delaware for acceptance testing. The 125 engines from the total order will be the new face of Amtrak's long distance trains in the future. The train is seen with just the locomotives sticking out of the S&I Building in the Amtrak facility in Chicago, Illinois with the Chicago skyline in the background.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
