On the afternoon of June 30, 2023, an eastbound Montana Rail Link train rolls over a fill along the Clark Fork between Heron and Noxon, Montana. Powered by a pair of BNSF locomotives, this is a train from Spokane shuttling cars to MRL customers isolated from through traffic due to the Yellowstone River bridge collapse near Reed Point. BNSF power was used on these trains between Spokane and Missoula due to PTC-equipped locomotives being required on the BNSF main line west of Sandpoint Junction.
