Excursion Over River Draw. The NJ Transit and United Railroad Historical Society of NJ operated an excursion train on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from New York Penn Station to Bayhead, New Jersey on the North Jersey Coast Line, with the return leg terminating at the Hoboken Terminal. Bombardier built ALP46-As NJTR 4640 (40th Anniversary, "Disco") and NJTR 4636 (Pennsylvania Railroad Heritage) led to South Amboy, where the first engine change since 1988 took place, placing NJTR F40s 4119 and 4120 in the lead for the rest of the trip. In addition to 5 Comet V cars, 4 private cars (Pennsylvania Railroad "120" and the Warrior Ridge/1157, and New York Central 43 and Hickory Creek) were used to make the unique consist. With the electric motors in the lead, the train crosses River Draw over the Raritan River from Perth Amboy to South Amboy, New Jersey. Construction of its replacement can be seen in the background. The Pennsylvania Railroad tribute unit represents the GG-1 that once roamed these lands, the "disco" stripe is the stand in for E-60s and ALP-44s.
