A Local and a Visitor.
The Kinki Sharyo plant in Piscataway, NJ is home to one of NJ Transit's former GP40FH-2 locomotives - the last of the 15 rostered by the agency to still reside in the state. Built by EMD in 1966-1967, the locomotives were acquired by NJ Transit in 1987 and were rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen using the cowl of a former Burlington Northern F45. Behind the locomotive is a non-native New Jerseyan: Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) CQ310 car no. 512, which was part of an order of single units manufactured by Société Franco-Belge from 1979-1981. It is unclear what work was being done to the car - and many of it's siblings that were also there - but the car bodies were stripped of seemingly all parts and were riding on temporary trucks, so it is likely that their future is bleak.
