"Just" 10 hours 5 minutes behind schedule is Amtrak train 3, the westbound Southwest Chief. Passing through Fullerton Junction, at the eastern end of the Fullerton Transportation Center (what used to be just a "train station"), this six-car train fell behind so much that a freight diesel, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Dash 9-44CW 4739, was added to the headend to assist Amtrak P42DCs 203 (wearing special Operation Lifesaver markings) and 37. Fullerton Junction is where Metrolink's Orange Sub diverges from the BNSF Railway's Orange Sub, which heads south to San Diego. In another few hours, southern California is due to get several inches of rain, and at least this late train's passengers dodged that. (Fullerton, California – January 31, 2024)
