Many Chicagoland area railfans recognize "Tower B-12" on Metra's Milwaukee Subdivision as the junction between the former Milwaukee Road and the Soo Line, intersecting just east of downtown Franklin Park, IL. Back in the day, there used to be an interlocking tower guarding the crossing, which today is all controlled remotely.
The tower itself, however, was moved roughly 0.25 miles west and has taken up permanent residence in a small park in downtown Franklin Park, right next to the mainline it used to stand watch over. Here, the tower stands proudly as an outbound Metra commuter train makes its stop on its way to Elgin.
