Between 1931 and 1938, the Swiss locomotive industry built a total of 3 large double locomotives especially for heavy trains on the Gotthard line. All were prototypes, i.e. very different in terms of technology and performance. The last to be built, the so-called "Landilok", Ae 8/14 # 11852, was built especially for the Swiss National Exhibition in 1939 as a reference for Swiss locomotive construction by SLM and the BBC and was the most powerful locomotive in the world at the time with an hourly output of 8162 kW. This day the locomotive # 11852, which is no longer operational, was transferred from its previous location in the Arth Goldau depot to Erstfeld, where it will complement and enrich SBB Historic's collection of Gotthard locomotives in Erstfeld. Between Steinen and Schwyz are pulling the Re 420 # 193 and # 198 (Re 4/4 II # 11193 and # 11198) of the SBB in multiple control (for ETCS L2), followed by the Ae 8/14 # 11852 without operational brake, and in the rear Ae 6/6 # 11411 "Zug" of SBB Historic as brake locomotive.
