Having troughed out in the tight horseshoe curve in the near-ghost town of Folsom NM, BNSF 9121 begins the climb up Trinchera Pass, which it will crest just before crossing the border into Colorado. The train is leaving the volcanic fields, crossing over a gap in the Johnson Plateau, and will bend westward toward its next stop in Trinidad, CO.
