Remarks & Notes
Scene To Change Soon. CSX M724-21 was on the way to Theodore, Alabama on the afternoon of Sunday, October 21, 2018 as it passed through the Mobile Convention Center in Mobile, Alabama with the power set of CSXT 6409 (née-C&O 6409, GP40-2), CSXT 2226 (Road Slug, ex-B&O 6909, GP-30), and CSXT 6508 (ex-CSX 6355, née-SCL 1645, GP40-3). The train is in front of the dormant former Amtrak passenger platform, but the area is undergoing significant change as the city prepares for the return of Amtrak service between Mobile, AL and New Orleans, LA. Until it was demolished after Hurricane Katrina in 2006, there was a station building here that had been built by the Louisville & Nashville in 1956 to serve the 'Humming Bird' and the "Pan-American', trains that would give way to the 'Gulf Breeze' and 'Gulf Coast Limited' and ultimately the 'Sunset Limited', which last served the city in August, 2005.
