Missouri Pacific 4602 is at the headend of a trio of RS-11s running westbound through Kirkwood, Missouri on August 14, 1960. After purchasing something near a legion of GP7's and GP9's the order of 12 Alco RS-11's in 1959 was out of character for the MoPac. The RS-11's were destined to be the odd-men-out, and wound up orphaned among the 567- powered fleet. They won't keep their 251 engines for long. They were repowered with 1650hp EMD engines 1964-1965, designated "RS-11m" or "GP16". Photo by Louis Marre, from my collection.
