Looks like I got the attention of the guys on the wire train. The front car is a "tool & riding car." It is followed by a tower car and a stake and paneled flat car. The tool & riding car's pantagraph was used as a ground to discharge static current in a powered down line. The cupola was for inspection. The tool cars were number 16300-16308 and all came from Penn Central. Based on the trucks and roof arch, this one started out as a Pennsylvania RR P70 coach. |
