A brief break in an otherwise solid overcast illuminates the B-Section of the 3PM Train as it pulls away from the water stop at Waumbek Tank and heads for the summit. The contrasts abound on this chilly day in early fall as flashes of peak fall color can be seen amidst the scrub pines, while snow is present less than 1000 vertical feet above....a sign of things to come. Just above the coach roof, the A-Section can be seen in the distance, under the control of Diesel Locomotive M-1....unfortunately, yet another sign of things to come.
