RF&P FP7 No. 1202 was leading an E8A and two GP units as manifest No. 109 passed through Doswell, VA on Nov. 13, 1971. RF&P was extremely short of power in 1971 and part of 1972 and some E8As were held back from Amtrak and used in freight service until delivery of the GP40-2s. Once they were released from freight service, they were turned over to Amtrak. The general store at Doswell, Darnell's Store, was owned by Roy Darnell, a RF&P yard clerk on the 4-12 shift at Acca Yard in Richmond.
