Merry Christmas from Maine! The Wiscasset Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum's Locomotive Number 10 puts on a spectacular display of smoke and steam as she approaches the private crossing at Jayne's Way during the 2011 Victorian Christmas event. Each year, on the Saturday before Christmas Week, the museum opens its doors to the community, offering free train rides, hot drinks, visits with Santa Claus, sleigh rides....and just an all-around good time. The event has grown in popularity over the last few years, and even an early morning snowfall couldn't keep the 2011 edition from topping the previous year. By the time #10 had been put away around 5PM, the two-foot passenger train had carried a record 1,002 visitors back and forth to Alna Center. The museum folks believe that this level of traffic set a new record, not only for their annual Christmas event, but an all time, single-day record for passenger traffic between Alna Center and Sheepscot since the original line was built in the 1890s!
