Martinsburg, WV 4/1/2010 - Winchester & Western conductor Denny Hutzler prepares to open the derail on the CSX interchange track for the southbound W&W "86" turn, which runs from Winchester, VA to Hagerstown, MD. Four cars will be set off here for CSX, all picked up from the Norfolk Southern Vardo Yard in Hagerstown. The W&W serves as a "bridge-route" for NS traffic headed to local West Virginia industries on CSX. The Black River & Western SD-9 was on loan to the W&W in the spring of 2010 while they considered the possibility of using six-axle power on their Hagerstown turn. The six-axle solution was later abandoned in favor of newer four-axle power, and the SD-9 returned home.
