Moat Brook Trestle. Here's a relatively unusual view of the Conway Scenic Railroad's Canadian National Switcher #7470, hauling a passenger excursion over the old wooden trestle at Moat Brook. When running the Conway Line, this locomotive virtually always faces north, so as to tackle the grade from Conway to North Conway facing forward. On this day however, a special charter for the Mass Bay Railroad Enthusiasts requested a south-facing run to Conway, in hopes of a sunlit shot at Moat Brook. As luck would have it, clouds prevailed when the train arrived at the bridge, but the assembled fans still walked away with a pretty shot of a seldom-photographed location. With 7470 soon to be sidelined for major maintenance, it's an image that no one else is likely to get anytime soon.
