Harkening back to the days when the California Zephyr plied the rails of Western Pacific's 3rd Subdivision, the westbound Feather River Express rolls across Clio Trestle with former California Zephyr dome-lounge-observation 'Silver Solarium' bringing up the markers. The California Zephyr was a Chicago to Oakland dome equipped streamliner operated by the CB&Q-D&RGW-WP which toured some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the western United States. First operated in 1949 the Zephyr enjoyed a 21 year career before calling for the last time in March of 1970. The special train, operated by Amtrak, is returning to Emeryville after spending the weekend in Portola, CA for their annual Railroad Days event.
