In memory of my father, Richard T. Steinbrenner, who passed on Friday, January 22nd, I am posting this picture. Many of you knew my father and many others are familiar with his books on Alcos and the Lehigh Valley Railroad. I've enjoyed railfanning with my father since I first started taking pictures at the age of 5 in 1973. I chose this picture because it represents our all-time favorite subjects. First, the Lehigh Valley Railroad which my Dad loved since growing up in Union, NJ. Second, the town of Sayre, which was the location of many of our extended railfanning trips prior to the end of the Lehigh Valley on April 1st, 1976. Finally, the beloved Alcos, which were the focus of all of our railfan activities. The LV 628s in the snowbird scheme were a particular favorite.
