The Waterbury Shuttle reaches its terminus the day after a major snowstorm struck the northeast and shut down passenger rail service in the state.
The old Union Station is the most iconic building in Waterbury, its clock tower a symbol of the city. Designed by McKim, Mead, and White, the tower was a late addition requested by a New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad executive after construction had already begun. Today, the building is owned by the local newspaper, the Waterbury Republican-American.
