Durango & Silverton’s former 3-foot gauge Rio Grande K-28 mikado No. 473 is gussied up in 1950s movie paint, complete with an old-fashion headlight and diamond stack, during the railroad’s annual Railfest celebration on August 26, 2006. The locomotive is standing in front of the Durango station coupled to the “President’s Train,” which is ready to depart. Unfortunately, the faux box headlight wouldn’t stay lit, so an electrician from the roundhouse has arrived on the scene to fix it, complete with a Buffalo Bills hardhat.
