Making its triumphant return to Southern California after leaving in 2014, and now fully operational, UP 4014 eases across one of the two iconic steel bridges located just east of Victorville as the 4-8-8-4 begins to slow its train for a red signal. Starting in Barstow, 4014 would be stuck behind a pair of freights before finally making it into Victorville for its only servicing stop of the day. While there, the BNSF Cajon Sub Dispatcher would run an empty baretable train around the special that it would later pass at Summit, but then be overtaken again around Alray. This fun "race" over Cajon was quite amusing to many of us following the steam special over the pass.
