Westbound at Groff's. With her big sister the 611 holding the siding at Groff's Grove, N&W 475 (lettered as 382) begins to accelerate her mixed train westward toward the crossing at Cherry Hill and on toward East Strasburg. The cosmetic changes used to transform the 1906-vintage, M-Class #475 into 382 included a modified pilot, the addition of a spark arrestor to the stack, a new number plate, new cab numbers and lighted number boards. All of these features were created by Peter Lerro of Lerro Productions. Pete was hired by the Strasburg Railroad and the Virginia Museum of Transportation to develop the operations plan for the 3-day photo event, and to manage the photo lines. Pete was the logical choice to lead this event, has he has well over a decade of experience running railroad photo events and has worked with both the SRC and the VMT in the past.
