In the mid 1980’s the colors of the New York, Ontario & Western Railroad came to the rails in the Pennsylvania’s Lackawanna Valley for the first time in over a quarter-century. The Lackawanna Valley Railroad took over operation of the former Delaware & Hudson min line between Scranton and Carbondale. The NYO&W’s Scranton Main Line, which ended at a connection with the Jersey Central, paralleled the D&H main between there and Carbondale. Appropriately, the Lackawanna Valley chose an NYO&W-inspired scheme for its ex-Conrail U30B. The GE is seen here in Scranton, near the location of the present-day D=L shops.
