This beautiful streamlined 4-6-4 Hudson, number 1400, was built in February 1937 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Eddystone, Pennsylvania, for the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad. According to the specifications listed on the back of the builder's card, it was built for passenger service, in working order the total engine and tender weight was 697,300 lbs, and it had a tractive force of 44,000 lbs. My great, great Uncle Robert F. McKee, Sr., worked as a design engineer at Baldwin. This Baldwin Locomotive Works builders photo card is from the John R. Doughty collection.
