Now Under New Ownership. The Santa Maria Valley Railroad's newest locomotive acquisition, No. 3501 (ex-Fillmore & Western), dries off in Fillmore this morning after the most recent round of rain showers passed through Southern California. Built in 1964 for the Pennsylvania Railroad, No. 3501, a GP 35, also saw service on the Arizona and California Railroad before coming west to serve under its last owner, the Fillmore & Western Railway. With the Fillmore & Western sadly not being chosen by Ventura County to continue operations across the Santa Paula Branch Line, it's nice to see great pieces of equipment like this finding new homes where they will continue to see revenue service. Time will tell where historic, heavy weight passenger cars like the one to the right here end up going to.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
