After spending the morning along the UP between Fremont and Grand Island, we planned to grab some lunch and then follow the BNSF's Ravenna Sub back east. Luckily, the BNSF local was finishing up their work in GI and preparing to depart back to Aurora as we finished our burgers. Here's our second Class 1 local with four axle power leading for the day, then, as they roll along east of Phillips. What we didn't realize is that we just took a picture of basically the only train moving between Lincoln and Alliance that afternoon. We would soon discover that a coal train had derailed just west of Waco, blocking both main tracks.
