Bad Cropping & Bad Composition

Any advice for the following two rejections?

Bad Cropping:

For your first shot, I suggest taking some off of the bottom just below the small tree on the far right and bring in some on the left up to the tree but keeping it in. For your second shot, there's an empty space between the tree on the far left and the platform on the right which doesn't really balance out the photo with your subject on the far right. My suggestion is crop it on the left all the way to the platform lights and bringing it down to the signal bridge and up to the foundation of the lights. Hope that helps!

I cropped it and tweaked the colors slightly. Looks great IMO.

As for the second one maybe something along these lines?

I agree with Michael, particularly on the second one.

On the first one, might trim a bit more from the left to get rid of the rest of the buildings. They are a distraction.
