I just do a quick click and "view image" and it automatically reduces the image to fit my screen. Been doing that for a long time on RP.

Colors in the rejected shot definitely look more realistic. The accepted shot looks closer to a water color painting now. Surprised they chose that over the original.

What camera are you using that is 16:9 as opposed to 3:2 from a DSLR?
Crop it to 3:2 with the train a little below center and you should be fine.
