I certainly don't think any of my photos are worthy of a SC. I take run of the mill angles and everyday common power. This shot is probably one of my favorites. I almost deleted it off the camera...

Do you have any space available on the right hand side that you cropped out? Needs to be cropped on the left, and add more on the right. But having said that, unless you do some post and pull some...

Just adding my two cents here. If you compare one of your rejected to photos to other that were accepted, but you feel deserved rejection, you will go crazy. You just have to try to make your photo...

That sounds like a reasonable explanation as to why raw wouldn't work for me before. It really irritated me that I was paying 9.99 and still couldn't shoot raw. There's a lot in LR that I haven't...

Until a couple of months ago, my version of Lightroom would not edit raw photos. I have no idea why, but maybe it had something to do with the computer I was using. Now that I have a new MAC, and a...

Thank you for that link. I think the problem was, I was seeing weird things on the back of the camera. I had no idea that what I was seeing was not what it would translate to when downloaded. I...

I have been shooting only raw for the last few months and I use LR for the editing. I think I'm just going to have to wipe the slate clean and start From factory settings again. I should have done...

Cloudy Day

So, this was rejected for composition, AND common power on a cloudy day. I guess an SD70ACE is common, but I thought maybe the Virginian could overcome that.

Yeah, that's why I posted a second one getting rid of some of the foreground. He had a blur effect on the foreground and I wasn't sure if that was something he was going for and wanted to keep. I...

I think the problem is too much sky/foreground. I know the sky is interesting ( although cloudy! :) ) But I would crop some off of there, and also use a 3x5 aspect. I find it works better for me with...

Other than reducing the size, yes, that was out of camera.

I get that it's not a shot for everyone and it's ok for someone not to like it. As I said, the problem here must have been my settings...

I love a big nasty snowstorm. Ice worries me though. I was sure the power was going to go out, but luckily my side of town was spared! ( this time )

I really didn't do a lot of post editing on it. Attached is the photo as it came out of the camera. If it's too bright it was pretty much just overexposed by me.

I knew I should have cropped out the left side, but thought the photo looked too unbalanced that way. Didn't seem to look right at the usual aspects. I figured if I got a composition rejection I...

We got a nasty ice storm in Ohio last night, and I thought it made for a cool picture. I see shots of signals without a train all of the time here, so I figured it was with a shot. I suppose I could...

I'm curious, when you appeal, do you get a response? I did appeal the photo in the original post, over a week ago. Just wondering if they actually notify you one way or the other? I expect it was...

Thanks for the input but I doubt I will try to resubmit a cloudy day shot. I always considered that rejection as final. I was tempted to appeal, but doubt that I will. I have never done that and I...

Cloudy day strikes again

I know that it is clear here that well lit bright pictures are preferred. I had hoped that being a pan shot ( with some colorful fall foliage ) would give me a little leeway. It's not a great shot,...

I love pan shots, but never had success in getting one on railpictures. I'm guessing if that caboose had a shiny paint job they would have taken it.
