Backlit going away shots? Hmmm, now that you mentioned it, Iíve been wanting to add this photo, but, technically, itís ďagainst the recommendations.Ē Also, some ďclutterĒ hiding the lead unitís lower...

Inconsistency, as well as holding out on further gripes, gets me. On more than one occasion, I've had photos rejected for one thing only to be rejected for another, later. If the screener(s) would...

In my short time here, I've found that RP (generally) doesn't like to see a significant population of pixels at the left half of the histogram, nor a significant portion which is clipped (black)....

All,

Here's the final result I came up with after a bit of final tweaking of the crop and then resize (for RP constraints). As said previously, this photo (locomotives, more specifically) were...

Thanks. Yep, Iím working off the original. Just wasnít sure whether you were referring to the saturation level of my original submission to RP or the sample photo I added to post #8.

Joe,

Just to clarify, are you suggesting less saturated yellows on the original or the last updated photo I sent?

Not just you who noticed - I did as well. Although the locomotives are slightly soft, they still are pretty sharp in the original. Unfortunately, that's about the best I could get with the resize....

Kevin,

After trying it, 5x3 does seem a fairly nice choice. It's a bit of a mid point between a standard and a panoramic frame, which would seem to fit well.

Taking the 14x9 crop to 5x3, I...

Kevin,

Actually, I do use a color calibrated display, tuned with a Spyder4Pro. My eyes are/were the problem here, me thinks. :)

As far as editing, I use LR/ACR, then fine tune in Photoshop,...

Bob, thanks for the suggestions.

In addition to crop, I see you've also gone quite a bit warmer. Perhaps it could use another 150-200 kelvin. My intent there was to keep it in line with the scene...

Too Much Saturation!

New rejection reason for me: too much saturation! Fair enough! For what it's worth, this was right after a good rain, so the scene actually was quite vibrant. In fact, I used a bit less saturation...

Quite likely could be a good portion of your problem here - I was afraid of that.

As others have said, resubmitting that photo to RP probably isn't a good idea. I would still like to see the...

Out of curiosity, what is your process to sharpen and resize your images for RP? I’m wondering if the method of resize you’ve used is the culprit, more than anything else. Also, perhaps you are using...

There is an option to shoot in RAW on some phones, and support for it is available on most of the newer phones, via third party apps. For instance, my iPhone 7 will not shoot RAW natively, but...

One needn't spend over $1,000 on a used D750. Heck, a new one can be had for $1,500. Far less than I paid new - $2,300 plus $400 something for the battery grip  :D

Absolutely, one can take...

RCH, I'd tend to agree with the others. Your iPhone 11, unfortunately, doesn't have the telephoto camera. Even if it were the 11 Pro, 2x optical zoom isn't much. You'd end up with an equivalent to,...

Oh no, those new GEVO's are pretty clean burning. In fact, the newest three (517-519) are "tier 4 credited." When under heavy load, you'll see a massive plume of heat waves and a tiny bit of haze. No...

Thanks, Joseph. I'll probably wait a few months and try to resubmit the corrected version, with a bit more sharpening. With it cropped in a bit, the details will have more resolution, too, (small RP...

Soft & Too Loose...Suggestions?

Yesterday, I had this photo (https://www.railpictures.net/viewreject.php?id=1845682&key=4076066) rejected for being "too soft" and "too loose." Seems fairly sharp to me, but I guess maybe a tiny bit...

I like that shot.

While not over exposed, I can see where the screener was going. The sky on the left gives the impression of being too bright. Possibly the highlights on the locomotives, as...
