I love pan shots, but never had success in getting one on railpictures. I'm guessing if that caboose had a shiny paint job they would have taken it.

On my screen, it looks a little over exposed due to intense sun and lacking some contrast. The sides of the locomotive are overly bright, so the nose appears darker than the rest of the locomotive.

It's unfortunate that they don't like the 3:5 aspect because that would be just the ticket for this one! Having said that, I really like the image, and I'm surprised they didn't take it.

I would trim enough off of the left to get rid of the remnants of the jersey barrier. I don't mind part of the guard rail being there, but I think the whole image needs to be moved to the left a bit.
