I definitely see that the first shot needs some sharpening. That has actually been an issue for me lately as me and my eyes get older and I don't always see the sharpening issues with my own shots....

I still say look at the end of the locomotive. But now that I look again, use the pole sticking out of the top of the car just behind the loco. It's leaning ever so slightly right in the redo.
