I agreee, Rook has become a gathering place for Rio Grande power.
A fantastic attraction.
However, Historically speaking, the P&WV did NOT build Rook.
According to P&WV's Official Newsletter, the Hi-Line October 1956,
Rook was built by the Wabash-Pittsburgh Terminal in 1904.
The name Rook comes from Colonel Charles Alexander Rook,
who from 1902 through 1923 was Editor-Publisher of Pittsburghs
once famous Pittsburgh Dispatch newspaper.
George J. Gould was the Man behind the Wabash and its entrance
into Pittsburgh, and because Colonel Rook supported the
Gould/WPT into Pittsburgh, Gould dedicated Rook Yard to the
Colonel...
