Another winner. Very nice job. You make it seem so easy. But then, all the greats do!

Gary - Please tell us about your lighting set-up. How many & what type of flash units did you use & how did you sync them? Thanks, Bob Lyndall - classiclights@yahoo.com

Thanks for your interest in the lighting here! A favorite location for me at night, this is a 100mm view. Lighting is provided by twelve flash units, (Canon/Nikon/Sigma units) controlled and synched to the shutter by Pocket Wizard radio remote receivers and transmitter on camera hot shoe. Two flash units are behind the cab of 9838 here, one pointed up at side of station facing camera, the other pointed away from cab to fill shadow and illuminate foliage, helping to create 3-D effect.Nine flash units are in a row down right side of photo and a final flash is off to extreme left lighting up nose. ISO 1600 and 1/200th on the 5D, f2 on the 100mm lens! Maybe thirty mph on 252!

Love those Pocket-Wizard remote transmitters & transceivers. I've used them on many a set-up with Lumedyne units to do night & sunrise shots of lighthouses such as those found on THIS PAGE

Gary, congrats on the article in Trains. Seeing this image here doesn't do justice for it, as it look MUCH better in print than on the computer screen (even though it's quite small in the mag). Did they reprocess the image themselves, or did you do some additional processing for the print version? Keep up the great work!
