I was only twelve years old when this picture was taken. I was at an age where I was dazzled by these, to me, huge monsters. I am in my mid seventies and I'm still just as dazzled by these, to me, huge monsters. Thanks for allowing me to relive my childhood even if only for a moment.

I feel the same exact way as the gentleman above this comment posted. I have always been facinated with the early streamlined diesels. When I attended the TVRM's first railfest in 2011 ,I was speechless when I seen NS F9A and B unit. My wife thought I stopped breathing. I may have. We were not aware of the the #4271 attending the festival. I feel that the early streamliners are the most attractive of all diesel locomotives in the world.

I was born in 1944. My dad went to work for The Southern that same year as a Fireman. So this picture brings precious memories. Thanks.

Wow. Any idea what kind of gear Dick used? Film back then was slow and so were the shutters!
