Wow I didn't realize that after all those years santa fe and bnsf never actually owned the sd75's they were just leased! I hope they didn't go over on the mileage and will have to pay extra haha

Most railroads don't own locomotives or railcars, even though they wear the corporate colours. They lease because there is some sort of tax on railroad equipment which was originally created to lessen the monopoly railroads had over trucking and other modes of transport. But when equipment is leased the leassee doesn't have to pay the tax and the lessor is sometimes even responsible for maintenance and repairs.

Great shot. So, the Superfleet was leased and really belonged to the BOA. That's very interesting.
