What year was it built ?

I believe these where built in the late 1930's early 1940's. Those diesels sure look worn out in a shorter period of time than a steam locomotive.
Bought in 1941, scrapped in 1956. Cracked frame from what I understand. Frequently used on the Peninsula 400.
Built in August 1941.
Builder's date of Aug 1941.
Built in August 1941, retired in 1956 and scrapped according to Diesel Shop.

I read somewhere that the last DL-109 was scrapped in 1968, but most were gone by the late 50's.

What I find interesting is that GTW was still strong running steam on their passenger trains during this time. And here is a diesel that looks to be 40 years old facing a scrapper. Love your postings by the way, Greg!
