I remember visiting that decapitated New Haven Alco (BTW, 0402 was an FA-1, not an FA-2) at the New York World's Fair, where it was painted in LIRR gray and orange. The fair also had a new EMD GP35 demonstrator on display at the GM pavilion, but that got out intact. The Toronto Railway Museum has a similar cab-minus-body, theirs from Canadian National F7 9159 poking out of the John Street roundhouse and looking from a distance like a whole locomotive, until you get up close.

Cool catch, Dennis! Glad to see you digging into the film archives!

If I had a dollar for everytime I drove by that location...
The cab is at the Oyster Bay Railroad Museum and repainted to LIRR gray and orange, as it was displayed at the 1964-65 World's Fair. The camp is now the site of a senior residence.
