David, #214 was a NOLA to Richmond, Va. train, hence all of the SP run through power just a few years later. 214 would get an assortment of power from LN, SP, and SLSF. I have seen and have dispatcher sheets with #214 having noting but foreign power.

Thanks for info, Robert. Not sure where I got idea Hamlet was end point for 214/215. Just took 45 years to find I was wrong! Knew power became more varied as time passed. I was around WofA a lot from 1970 until early 1975, and only recall power from non-affiliated road a single time. One of the first westbound runthroughs I saw (don't know if it was 213 or 215) was after dark when trains had only been running a few weeks. I overtook the power west of Auburn, AL, and it was a solid set of MoPac locos. Never saw MP again on Western until it started showing up after MP/UP merger. Those were interesting times.
