The remains of tunnel 4's portal is barely visible just off the conductors side of the locomotive.

Also notice the level area going around tunnel 5. That was the location of the sho-fly the railroad built after the earthquake in the fifties that severely damaged tunnel 5 and completely destroyed tunnel 4. They simply relocated the track around tunnel 4 and filled in the bore with concrete, but used the sho-fly to keep trains moving while more extensive work was completed on tunnel 5. Beautiful photo.
