For just a few more years. Amtrak moved the Southwest Chief onto the ex-BN at Galesburg after the "Cameron Connection" was built following the BNSF merger in late 1995. There are no longer any passenger trains on the ex-ATSF between Chicago and Galesburg, unless you count what runs on the ex-Illinois Central Gulf (originally GM&O) trackage rights portion (between old ATSF stations Pequot and Plaines) where "joint trackage" once existed (one ATSF track, one ex-GM&O/ICG track). Santa Fe bought the ex-GM&O track on the "joint" portion, while providing the ICG and successors trackage rights, because Santa Fe was not happy about the track's upkeep (I don't recall the date but remember reading about it somewhere). And, of course, none of those current passenger trains run this far west on the ex-ATSF main line.
