On a bitterly cold day, two AWW SD9's lead a Indiana Southern train into Oakland City, these engines have been apparently sent to Roanoke to be scrapped and the AWW is sadly no more.
This picture was shot on the last chase I was able to make before the units were returned from lease by Indiana Southern. Since NS has taken over the AW&W line, their fate is unknown.
SD9's lugging 80 car coal trains on the ex-NYC in southern Indiana coal country in 2006? I'll take it! Sadly, this track, these engines, are no more from what I hear.
