The closer to the Winter solstice (December 21) that you revisit the location, the farther south the sun will be at this time of day. While the sun will be lower (longer shadows), the direction may be such that the shadows and not on the lower part of the train, and you will have better nose lighting. Of course, that's not an absolute, but it's your best chance of overcoming the shadows.
