Default A Lesson On Relying on Free Web Hosting

A very popular hosting site among UK rail enthusiasts and modellers is currently down and has been for some days with rumours circulating of insolvency, or at the very least a major hacking attack.

Other forums I belong to are full of tales of people with 1000's of pictures now inaccessible. One guy has no record of his captions for 8000+ images. Some very valuable modelling resources may have gone west (one fotopic site had 100's of shots of British railway wagons and was the de facto online reference guide when looking for shots for modelling projects).

At least I only had a free account and can easily rehost elsewhere. The moral of the tale is - always keep records of everything you upload, you never know when you might need it.
