Post an "average" photo
More fun with the database!
Post an "average" photo of yours from your collection. By average I mean check out what your personal average views per photo is from the members section, then find a photo in your collection that has the same number.
For example, my average views per photo (AVPP) is 174.92 at this posting. (That's kinda low! ) The following image has 178 views at posting, and I guess it is an average representation of my work here.
If you don't have any images that are exactly the same number as your AVPP, then round up to the next number in your collection. If you have more than one image, then select your favorite.
Here it is, in all it's mediocrity-

Great idea. My average views per photo is 240.67. Here's one of my photos in the database with 240, the only picture I have with that many. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=111019 Take care.

My average is 208.7 views per photo, although I have many below that and a few above that. I have two at 224 views (make them 225!) and one at 196.

At an average of 232.67 (Lets round up to 233) here's one that's right on that number (at posting time). It's certainly nothing to write home about, but hey, it's an EMD.

Nice shots, guys. Caleb, How do you make the image just appear on the screen without having to click the Railpictures link? I feel left out here....me being the only one posting a link: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=111019

Here are some more of my photos that are real close to my average views per photo. Thanks a lot to Chuck and Caleb for helping me with the photo id trick making the picture come up on the screen without posting the link.

My average view per photo is 192.30 (way low compared to most, but I blame living in IL, OK, and ND...flat w/ no exciting scenery! I'm gonna have to do an average views/photo for my Colorado shots just for grins someday).
The shot that had 192 views is sort of an irony, since this location, this engine, and everything else in this shot is probably destroyed:

Colorado is averaging 257.875 for me. Goes to show you that neat stuff in the background goes a long way toward your total views!

Average is 174 views for my whopping 8 accepted photos. Man, I need to get busy. This one had right at 174...

Edit: Hey, I win so far, with the lowest average views. I should get a "Get One Un-Rejected Free" certificate.

My average as of now is a little over 228. Here is a pic with 229 views. Why is it average? Well, it's a simple side on view of a train in poor lighting. The lighting itself would probably result in rejection today, and for that matter, I would not even upload it today. I guess my standards have evolved just as the website's have. The landscape is just simply breathtaking, isn't it? Basically, it does not come out and grab you at all, aside from perhaps the tossed salad mix of power. If not for that, it would probably be well below average, likely down near the bottom.

I am glad to see someone make that statement. Our standards have increased a great deal since RP first came online. I can look back through my early stuff and find material that I wouldnt even dream of posting today. I know of several folks (including myself) that have went back and weeded out a lot of "sub-par" shots to rid the site of stuff that doesn't meet the higher standards, and in the process they have presented a better idea of thier best work. I have Three or Four racks of CD's sitting here on the puter desk that contain a lot of shots that wont ever see RP...They are worth saving, but not my best work. If more folks could understand this and only upload the cream of thier crop, we would have a LOT less of these bitch sessions (not that this thread is..you all know what I mean) on the forums!
