Recovering from Poor Choice in Slide Film

I have many slides that were taken using a slide film (I think Fuji) that I did not realize until I started scanning, appears to have a lot of grain for a 200 ASA film. So the result is too much grain/noise. I am using a Nikon Coolscan 5000 so I do not think it is being introduced in the scanning, but maybe someone else can help.

Anyway, has someone found a basic process to help reduce noise but yet also keep edges sharp. I am experimenting with Photoshop's noise reduction and also sharpening tools, but have not found the magic combination of what and when to use the tools and how much to use them.

I used photoshop, filter, camera raw filter and then luminescence. Took it about half way to remove grain. At least to my old eyes the grain seems less

Thank you for working on this photo. I see the improvement. Now I am going to attempt to use camera raw filter and luminescence for my next photo.

That was fast . I'd think about original processing, so you don't have to rescue so much. Sharpening is your enemy. I use smart sharpen in PS.

For me the accepted(not baggy Version) is suffering greatly from ill effects of noise reduction and somewhat surprised it was accepted. Just switch back and forth between rejected and accepted. Look at the trucks, and side stripes.

I try to use some noise reduction and then use the blur tool lightly in the sky.

But if anyone has a magic wand like this, maybe they can help this rejection of mine as unsharp. I already have and don't think .........

Wow - your sample of the rejected photograph was much better than the accepted one. I recommend taking the original, just filtering the sky and resubmitting the photo.
